RESULT OF RELATIONSHIP

• Partnership developed to ensure continuous review of the supply chain, with a view to cutting costs and increasing service levels. Additional Services Offered to X.O.S.

• Pick and Pack service for stationery and associated products.

• Delivery services to other group companies.

• Bulk and toner deliveries.

• Direct computer link to X.O.S. system for full stock management.

• Daily performance monitoring figures provided by RDFL to confirm service levels.

CASE STUDY

• Prior to RDFL'S involvement, the contract was for a dedicated fleet that provided a three day delivery service.

• RDFL were selected for the contract because they offered Xerox Office Supplies (X.O.S.) something new, which would differentiate them from their competitors.

• To achieve this aim, RDFL changed the delivery cycle to a multi-user, next day delivery service.

Contract History

• RDFL open first depot in Birmingham to service the X.O.S. contract in the Midlands and the North.

• RDFL open London depot to service the X.O.S. contract in the South.

• RDFL open Wakefield depot to service X.O.S. contract in the North.

• RDFL open Scottish depot which provides full National U.K. coverage for X.O.S.

Change in Work Profile

• Customer order cut-off moved back from 2pm to 5pm.

• Dramatic growth in special delivery instructions.

• Dramatic increase in timed deliveries.

• Increase in demand for specialist services, e.g. two man crews, delivery to point of need.

• Special order picking requirements.

Contract Processes

• Customer order cut-off.

• Orders available to be routed.

• Orders exported to RDFL computer for routing with other third party work.

• Routing completed, orders picked on X.O.S. system, in order to produce picking and vehicle lists and driver manifests.

• Picking lists and manifests passed to warehouse staff so that order picking and vehicle loading can commence.

• Orders combined with other third party work and loaded onto vehicles.

• Vehicles leave depot to commence deliveries. customers on behalf of X.O.S.

• Rhys Davies have concentrated on improving all aspects of the supply chain and currently are perceived by both X.O.S. and their customers as providing the best service within their industry, a fact borne out by their weekly service KPI’s.
