RESULT OF RELATIONSHIP

• Maintained customer service for Sigma Coatings UK during the difficult period of the transfer of Logistics Service Provider.

• Increased complete and on time deliveries to customers and depots, despite reduction in drop size and a significant increase in timed deliveries and specialised customer requirements.

• Achieved the budgeted cost required by Sigma for their end-to-end supply chain in the UK.

CASE STUDY

• Sigma Coatings UK were put in a difficult situation when the company that warehoused and delivered their products throughout the UK went out of business.

• Rhys Davies took over the emergency situation at 2 days notice and ran the previous contractor’s warehouse for 6 weeks, until they were able to transfer the products and the remaining staff to their new premises in Birmingham . This process was carried out without any disruption to the customers, in fact the delivery service actually improved over this period. At this time Sigma were already well advanced in their programme to centralise all their production facilities in Belgium , and to close their UK plant.

• Rhys Davies now provide a complete logistics solution to support the Sigma Sales Organisation throughout the UK.

• Container loads of coating products are imported daily from Belgium , unloaded and stored in individual locations within dedicated racking in the warehouse. The management of the stock is controlled using the SAP Warehouse Management System.

• Orders are received into the system up to 3.30pm on Day 1, picked, packed and distributed throughout the UK to arrive with Sigma’s customers at the agreed time on Day 2.

• Rhys Davies also carry out the tinting and mixing of paints and coatings to supply specialised orders to customers on behalf of Sigma.

• Rhys Davies have concentrated on improving all aspects of the supply chain and currently are perceived by both Sigma and their customers as providing the best service within their industry, a fact borne out by their weekly service KPI’s.
