Unifine Food & Bake Ingredients Outsources Its Warehousing and Distribution

Unifine Food & Bake Ingredients has closed its Milton Keynes warehouse and has moved to new offices, after outsourcing the warehousing and distribution of its food ingredients to RDFL.

The move not only released capital Unifine had tied up in its warehouse, but increased productivity gained through RDFL's service which has resulted in the company being able to reduce its stock holdings of ingredients.

"We have relocated our warehousing needs to RDFL, while maintaining all the controls," said Simon Solway, Unifine Food & Bake Ingredients' Sales and Marketing Director. "We have a direct IT link to RDFL, which enables us to generate pick lists for deliveries across the UK and Ireland. RDFL carries out all of our warehouse and distribution functions, leaving us to concentrate on the ingredients business."

Prior to switching to RDFL, Unifine used several transport companies, who in turn sub-contracted work out, resulting in extended delivery times and lack of direct control. By consolidating its warehouse and distribution operation to RDFL, which is operating a next day delivery for orders placed by 3 p.m., Unifine has greater control and improved its service to its customers.

RDFL has a dedicated food division, with distribution and warehousing accredited to the BRC Global Standard.
